Grave Blessings for 2019

Its that time of year, the clocks have gone back and the shops are all ready stocked with Christmas Presents among the Halloween decorations. I’m sure that many of you have re-set your central heating and will load up the log burner for a cold and rainy miserable weekend. Temperatures down to 7 Celsius too. The Fireworks are going off at all hours and will annoy us well in to 2020. The Pumpkins are a plentiful this year. The question I get alot is when are the Grave Blessings?………………..

For some of you it will be the first Grave Blessing of a recently deceased loved one and I’m sure you are dreading the Anxiety and chill of the day as emotions are raw and still fresh in your mind.

Fear not as you will not be alone with the many others I’m sure you will recognise and haven’t seen for a while. An opportunity to catch up old acquaintences and gather with siblings, as you shuffle to keep warm. I do recommend wrapping up warm and bringing a drink or even a flask of hot tea or soup. A short service, hopefully a good entourage of Priests to shorten the wait. Finally the comfort and Grace of Jumping the first of many hurdles.

Bereavement is a topic I hope to talk about before Christmas, especially Anxiety, Panic and Depression. In the meantime be kind to yourself and try roll with it, plenty of exercise (I Swim), a balanced diet, avoid sugar & salt. Set Goals and Tactics how to a achieve them. There are always counselling links and prayer groups in local parishes, Mindfullness, ICAP and Cruse. Talking is healthy, making use of the senses. For me incense, a little Classic FM, the Logburner, Audibooks and Restoration of my Lambreatta (Another Blog). Without a doubt the Accordon & my Synthesisers are a great distraction. Writing is really good, for me, it’s MaCushla and my Poems. Finally I strive for Mum and Dad and don’t want to fail them ever and Pray for the Lord,s assistance through them. Don’t Give up! Live, Love and Laugh! MaCushla X

Mass for the Bereaved: The annual Mass for all those who have been bereaved and those who have been widowed will be held this year at Sacred Heart & holy Souls Parish Church on Saturday 23rd November at 2pm followed by refreshments in the Parish Meeting Room.

Finally from the Parish Bulletin, Sacred Heart & Holy Souls Commemoration of the Faithful Departed – All Souls: On Saturday we gather to pray for the faithful Departed, To enable as many people as possible to come to Mass for All Souls. There will be Masses at 10am and 12 Noon (please note these Masses do not fulfil the Sunday obligation). A Plenary Indulgence can be granted on this day for the faithful departed by making a devout visit to the church and praying the Our Father, the Creed, a prayer for the Pope’s intentions and making a confession and devoutly receiving Holy Communion ASAP. To assist in the gaining of the indulgence, confessions will be heard on Saturday morning from 9.30am -10am and then from 10.30am – 12 Noon.

May the Souls of the Faithful Departed Rest in Peace. Amen.
