The Miracle Mission 2023
Here’s wishing you all a Happy Christmas! One at least filled with a moment’s peace for time with loved ones and Friends. I’m certainly looking forward to some time off and at least a little ride out on two wheels.
It doesn’t seem long since I was writing last year’s Christmas Blog, even though this year seems a mission. Where has the year gone! You like me I’m sure are looking forward to the Christmas break.
This year has certainly been a real tough one filled with tragedy. This Christmas is going to be a Mission, especially for those families who have lost loved ones and are struggling with ill health. I can’t help feel a sense of bewilderment with the news headlines in the Middle East. A world that’s lost its way, where the narrative doesn’t change like this eternal rain that just won’t go away. I look forward to better days. Life is so short and precious in every way.
Even at 4 Days Christmas seems so far away. The Advent Journey seems a real Mission. It’s always the last few miles that tend to slow us down.
I can’t help contemplate like in my previous Christmas blogs FootPrints in the snow, Christmas Hooves; A Donkeys Tale, Stripping Back Christmas; Advent 2020 or The Journey to Bethlehem 2021, how Jesus Mary Joseph and D’wee Donkey or the Three Kings ever made it. It’s a miracle and example of hope for us all. I often wonder how on Earth I’ve made it thus far after all the trials and tribulations of the Journey but I have. My Father John Doc always said ‘Son it will be alright!’ I would hug him for dear life as patted me three times on the shoulder in my darkest hours. I did’t think I’d make it without him! His kindness, Faith and Endurance was far beyond any bodies I’ve ever met. Needless to say I’m unworthy of his shoes. I miss that Man and me Muddar. Still, Everything is possible with God, and with a few pints of Arthur Guinness thrown in for extra measure: Learning a few new tricks on the way as the Kingdom of Heaven grows inside us, it certainly gives us a run for our money.
A few good deeds on the way certainly keeps Christ alive in us every day. I am thankful for the light that burns inside those whom I have encountered on the way. A helping hand to lighten the load. A shout goes out especially to those special Colleagues I work with in Service & Love.
As I climb inside the Crib and snuggle up to the Manager this year. May I wish you a Very a Happy & Joyful Christmas what ever your circumstances are. My thoughts & prayers to you all. The Miracle Mission is not Mission Impossible! As my Son would say ‘Fight the Good Fight!’
Finally this Blog is dedicated to memory of a little girl I encountered on my Journey; Elsiee McNally Bose.
